![]() I always thought that game seemed like an unofficial successor to Ultra Vortek in terms of the type of game (2d fighter) and the style of the characters and game, in fact it even has a character named Dredloc in it, similar to Ultra Vortek's "Dreadloc". There's also Viscious Circle, a prototype arcade game that was going to run on modified jaguar hardware circa 1996. Obviously there's all the recent games in the Mortal Kombat series as well, which seems to be what Kasumi Ninja, Ultra Vortek and Thea Realm Fighters were trying to be. Those are of course, way more polished than Kasumi Ninja ever was, but harken to some of the same martial arts movie cliches and stereotypes. ![]() In October 2003, a nearly complete prototype ROM image of Ultra Vortek. ![]() There have been some interesting and fun/cheesy low budget martial arts fighters that came out in recent years, such as Shaolin vs Wu Tang. Ultra Vortek is a fighting game developed by Beyond Games and published by Atari Corporation for the Atari Jaguar in North America. That's kind of a proxy for something Checkered Flag was trying to be. There have been remastered versions of Virtua Racing that added new content, such as the PS2 version. To mention some low hanging fruit, there have been many subsequent Doom, Wolfenstein, Tempest, Rayman and Worms games over the years.
